So Far...

Here are some of the patterns for my design. I used the two logos from Encore and practiced different techniques with help from Graphic Design: The New Basics.

I was going to include a bag, however the template I created for the bag took up a whole press sheet, which would be creating more waste. I had to think of other ways to hold things together without a bag, therefore decided on using some sort of twine or string.

Packaging Project

For the packaging project, I will be redeseigning Encore's carry out experience.



I had a little problem identifying the logo because Encore had two, but it is probably the first one.


Book Project

The three books I chose are The Maze Runner by James Dashner, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, and Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card.

Definitions from "This Means That" Ch 1

Sign: Form of communication in things that are not always transparent to us. Composed of the signifier and signified and are sometimes arbitrary.
Ex: Woof = barking = dog.
Dog = Understandable to language = Four-legged animal

Index: The non-arbitrary part of a physical causal relationship between the signifier and the signified
Ex: Ticking is caused by a clock.
A black eye is caused by a punch.

Symbol: Any sign where there is an arbitrary relationship between the signifier and signified.
Ex: A black tie = Arbitrary relationship = A formal occasion.
Brrrr = Arbitrary relationship = It's cold outside.
